December 7, 2013 - Adoption Day at Pet Supermarket, Pensacola, FL

What a great day for the ferrets and pups! We had a lot of people interested in learning about our little kids, in addition to other "ferrents" (ferret parents!) who stopped by to tell us about their little ones.

We had several volunteers to help out (thank you Lauren, Kelly and Kaylyn!). The extra hands were much needed as we had a playpen full of fur babies! We had with us Solar & Jupiter, Smokey & Bandit, Danny &
Sandy and Rango, Luke and Daisy, our resident trio. The fuzzies LOVE adoption days! They get to be loved on, held and played with the whole time we're there!

We had several donations, which are ALWAYS appreciated.

I can't say enough about how accommodating and friendly the staff was at Pet Supermarket in Pensacola. This was our first time there, but not our last! So if you're in the Pensacola area, please stop by!

On the other side of our adoption day were the pups! We had all sizes, colors and ages! Even some cutie patootie lab mix puppies! I'm happy to report that some of the pups found their forever homes yesterday!

Our next adoption day is this Saturday at the Ace Hardware in Navarre from 1-4 p.m. We would love to see our friends, and meet new friends!

Keep checking our blog...we're going to keep you updated on all our happenings!

Christmas Holidays

12/19/2013

Holidays can be dangerous for ferrets, so keep your ferrets safe throughout the upcoming season.

  • Keep people food and candy out of reach of ferrets.

  • Keep ferrets locked up when non-ferret company is visiting.

  • If you do allow your ferrets to play with your guests, make sure your guests know the rules: No people food or drink and watch where you step.

  • Check gift wrapping and boxes for ferrets before you throw it away.

  • Make sure ferrets don't have access to decorations that they could swallow.

  • Don't allow ferrets to drink from the Christmas tree stand.

  • In case there is an emergency, find out BEFOREHAND (now!) if any emergency vet clinics will be open during the
holidays. Make sure you have the number and directions handy just in case.

If you use common sense and keep an
eye on your ferrets, you should have a wonderful and safe Holiday
Season.

Finding a knowledgable vet for your ferret can be a daunting task.  Here at Navarre Ferret Rescue all our ferrets are seen by Dr. Dyson at St. Francis Vet Center in Navarre, Fl.  She is a well versed exotics vet that sees ferrets on a regular basis.  Additionally, Dr. Dyson volunteers with Santa Rosa County Animal Services, Emerald Coast Wildlife Refuge, and The Marine Mammal Stranding Network. She also is the
  veterinarian for Gulf Breeze Zoo.
